In this role you will interact with and oversee the data collection activities of team members working in communities to inspect drinking water service lines. You will also engage with community residents when conducting field work and provide information about data collection efforts and how we are supporting the customer's mission.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT This role involves the following responsibilities:
Traveling to communities in Illinois and Michigan that are receiving technical assistance to develop drinking water service line inventories. (75% - 100% long-distance travel including driving and flying)
Leading teams that conduct multi-day field work efforts to collect water utility data. Significant engagement with the general public while conducting field work is necessary. Some travel outside of Illinois and Michigan is also expected.
Must be located within 50 miles the Chicago, IL metro region, or 50 miles within the Detroit, MI metro region.
Collaborating with project managers on the team to plan, schedule, and lead teams conducting field work, including overseeing the day-to-day field work, ensuring proper data collection techniques, serving as a liaison between the water utility representatives and the contractor team, and interacting with community residents to provide accurate and clear information about the programs goals and objectives.
Performing work outdoors in variable weather conditions (hot/cold), carrying backpacks with work equipment, and kneeling/crouching to inspect water lines. At times, digging with a garden trowel may be needed to access the water service line.
When not traveling, office-type work will be performed include data analysis, document review, trip planning and coordination, and logistical support to the program.
Participating in meetings to capture notes and action items.
Analyzing data and synthesizing information into existing templates.
Conducting technical and editorial reviews of written products.
