Under moderate supervision by the IT Data Center Planning Analyst III, perform data center physical infrastructure planning and design activities in the data center for equipment placement inside of the data center. The planner will design the physical location for the compute and storage infrastructure based on the strategy for row, cabinet, and U placement within the cabinet. The planner will evaluate and design based on the available power capabilities in the cabinet, cooling needs for equipment, network port needs, cabling infrastructure, and alignment to the strategy and structured cabling infrastructure. The planner communicates with both the facilities team installing the physical equipment and the hardware owners of the physical equipment to understand and validate the needs for network, power, and cooling in the design for equipment placement in the data center. The planner is to leverage the DCIM tool, Nlyte, for planning, asset inventory management and interface details.

This position is office-centric 5 days a week in our Truist hubs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Complete planning of complex device installations within the data center, considering standard business practices and established processes.
2. Assist in planning of data center layouts, cabling infrastructure, and power distribution to support stability, flexibility, and resiliency within the data center environment.
3. Demonstrate full understanding and knowledge of IT departmental responsibilities, change management, problem determination/resolution, and resource allocation.
4. Provide support and oversight as required for the IT Data Center Security Policy and IT Architecture.
5. Provide collaboration with Data Center Services teammates and other technology teams in support of corporate objectives, project goals and initiatives.
6. Demonstrate strong Project Management skills in order to support project activity coordination for the Data Center Services Team.
7. Develop and maintain documentation for supported IT Enterprise Infrastructure to include updates and support of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM).
8. Retain ongoing knowledge of facilities management and technology within the supported IT Enterprise Infrastructure.


QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent education and related training
2. Five years of relevant Information Technology experience
3. A demonstrated understanding of applied enterprise computing technology
4. Knowledge of data flow, mainframe/client server software, problem analysis and performance enhancement
5. A demonstrated understanding of project management
6. A demonstrated understanding of network interfaces and technologies
7. A demonstrated understanding of infrastructure cabling concepts and best practices
8. A demonstrated understanding of blade server technology and concepts
9. A demonstrated understanding of Data Center Infrastructure management tools (DCIM) including Nlyte software.
10. Resourcefulness in multi-tasking, anticipating needs, developing creative recommendations and researching/synthesizing information to resolve complex problems
11. Ability to acquire complex technical concepts through training and self-study
12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
13. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight
